«Hüzzam Saz Semai» is a composition by Şerif Muhiddin Targan in the Hüzzam makam (mode), with Aksak Semai usul (rhythm).

Şerif Muhiddin Targan, also known as Sherif Muhiddin Haydar or Serif Muhiddin Haydar, was a Turkish Arab classical musician and oud player born on January 21, 1892 in Istanbul, Turkey. His father was Serif Ali Haydar Pasha, and his mother was Sabiha Hanim, his father’s first wife. Targan was a proficient cellist and oud player, and he explored the limits of the oud instrument through his instrumental compositions, technically challenging the performer. He lived a humble and noble life in Istanbul, performing the highest level of Turkish music for a small circle of close friends. He died on September 13, 1967, in Istanbul. Targan was also a teacher, and he directed the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad between 1937 and 1948, teaching exceptional oud soloists like Jamil Bashir, Munir Bashir, and Salman Shukur. Targan composed his first song in 1920, and his descendants continue his legacy in music.
